Happy Valentine's Day!

OK! I know we are a bit late. I could give excuses such as we were sick, but I guess you should know now that is how we are. LOL! I am still working on my Christmas card list. (Which have turned into New Years, then Valentine's and now Easter cards, as the list goes on ... maybe the end of the alphabet will get 4th of July cards, who knows.)

Tonight my scout troop is having their Valentine's Day party! YEA! Amy (my friend, asst. leader and a fellow homeschooling mom) and I were talking this weekend. One of the few things that I "miss" about public school (my older daughters went to ps for all of the elementary grades) is the "parties". Especially Valentine's Day. Hopefully tonight will give Kalie that experience. More later as we have to clean the house (meeting is here tonight and we did nothing for 6 days), run errands and do some sort of school all before 6:00. HELP! LOL!

We are better!

Kalie and I are feeling better. Today I woke up with the thought ... I might not have to take any sinus meds today. Thank you Lord! I have not had a "common cold" for a few years. I had forgotten how miserable they were. Thank you so much for the kind thoughts and prayers!

Thursday ~ Still CRUDDY!

This cold is hanging on and beating me. I am so tired and crabby and cranky! We spent most of the day doing a bunch of nothing. Kalie watched Disney channel for most of the day. I didn’t take a shower until 6:00 and Kalie is now in the bathtub. I am hoping that she will be ready for bed soon ( it is only 8:00) as I am already tired.

We had plans to bring the girls Valentine's treats, but it did not happen. Kasie did surprise us this afternoon with presents! She dropped them off on her way out with her friends. I was sleeping so at first I thought it was a dream. She gave Kalie a pair of Hannah Montana pj's. She was so excited! Kasie gave me a bunch of daisies (my favorite flower) and a package of Dove Dark Chocolate (also my favorite)! It was a very nice surprise!

Kalie is starting to feel better. She was asking if we could do some school work. She said that she would even do "reading" or handwriting. LOL! She also reminded me that we had not done our Bible study at all this week. (We are doing the lessons from Calvary Chapel and creating a bible notebook.) I felt guilty but yet proud at the same time. Guilty that I have been focused on me and my health and not towards the Lord, and proud that she is "loving" reading the Bible and wants to learn.

I hope and pray that tomorrow is a better day.

Subtraction Facts Lapbook

Today Kalie finished her subtraction facts lapbook from homeschool share. She loved it. Where every possible I had her write the answers to the problems. She glued all of the components to the folder. I made her "pass" her subtraction test before she could put the book together.

The cover.

The inside. She has plans to decorate it with more stickers after our next trip to the craft store.

Wednesday ~ The CRUD

Kalie and I have the CRUD. It is a head cold! Sinus pressure, headache, tired, congested stopped up nose, runny nose, crabbyness and grouchy bugs. We have spent most of the day just veggin' out. We have only worked on lapbooks and notebooks today (which I consider extra) but even that has been very limited. We did have to take Kasie to Wal-Mart, which was good because we needed something different to help fight the symptoms. We loaded up on orange juice, Sierra Mist Free, cough drops, vit C drops, new otc meds and puffs plus with lotion. I also got good old medicated chest rub. I put it on Kalie and I. About 20 minutes later I was daydreaming about my Grandma Jo (she has been gone for 10 years now), she always used "the rub" on us when we were sick. I do not think we will be going to our play group Valentine's Day party tomorrow. I do not want to infect anyone else. Hopefully I can shake this before cookie booths start on Friday.
